Currency

Credit cards are widely accepted in Les Houches, but they are not accepted everywhere. Carrying some cash is recommended, especially in restaurants and smaller stores.  ATMs are the easiest way to withdraw cash from your home account - ensure you inform your bank before travelling abroad, and be aware that you may be charged for cash withdrawals.  It is advisable to exchange some cash before travelling to Les Houches. 
 

Electricity

The power supply in Les Houches is 230 volts at 50 Hertz. Sockets accept two-round-pin style plugs. If you travel with a device that does not accept 230 Volts at 50 Hertz, you will need to bring a voltage converter with you.  You may also need a plug adapter if your appliance's plug has a different shape.
 

Attractions

Aiguille du Midi
For more than 50 years, the most famous and one of the highest aiguille de Chamonix has been an essential world attraction. From the center of Chamonix, a 20 minutes ride in the Aiguille du Midi cable car takes you to the gateway to the high Alps at a height of 3,842 m.

Montenvers
Departing from Chamonix, this famous rack and pinion railway brings you to the Montenvers site at 1913 m. An imposing panorama of the Mer de Glace glacier, the Drus and the Grands Jorasses.

Ski and Snowboard
In winter, with 4 large skiing areas, Chamonix Valley welcomes snow sports enthusiasts from all over the world and from all walks of life who come to test their skills on the slopes of the Mont Blanc range.

Ice Rink
All year round, you can go ice skating on the 60 x 30 metres indoor Olympic rink. The skating rink now has a seating capacity of 1,700. 

Hiking
For those who prefer walking silently in harmony with their surroundings rather than striding along hastily, snowshoeing is an ideal way of discovering the local fauna and flora, peacefully muffled in its winter cloak. The Bossons Glacier Chair Lift
From the top of the Bossons village, this delightful chairlift will tranport you over meadows and alpine chalets to an altitude of 1425m, where you can enjoy exceptional views of the Bossons glacier.
