The Biophysical Journal is owned by the Biophysical Society. The Society appoints an Editor-in-Chief and an Editorial Board of active biophysicists. Revenue from the journal makes up more than a third of the Society budget. Publication fees are returned to the Society and are reinvested in the journal, other publications, and other programs such as travel awards, science fair awards, the Ambassador Program, public policy and advocacy, Student Chapters, webinars, networking events, career resources, Subgroups Committee programming at the Annual Meeting and Biophysics Week, and so much more.
The Biophysical Journal is the Biophysical Society's flagship journal which was first published in 1960 and has been published in partnership with Cell Press since 2009.
