Development and application of computational methods to calculate the kinetics of biological processes have been an emerging area of interest in biophysics in recent years. Molecular dynamics simulations can reveal atomistically detailed mechanisms and timescales for single molecule processes like protein folding and ligand binding, with potential therapeutic applications, whereas systems biology based techniques can study events at larger length scales like cell signalling and gene regulation. Despite the recent advances, both these approaches have challenges and limitations on the system size, time-scale and the accuracy of prediction. This networking event, on computational methods for biomolecular kinetics, is aimed at bringing together researchers across the globe working in the development and application of new methods to calculate kinetic properties of biomolecular processes using theoretical and computational approaches. The event will include presentations by accomplished scientists, graduate students and postdocs, to introduce the participants with the modern simulation methods and a networking session with the speakers to discuss how to foster collaborations and to develop common themes for addressing the key challenges in this area.
