How COVID-19 is Affecting Students: Biophysics Genoa Student Chapter

Like all students and workers all over the world, we have to work from home.

But this won't stop us.

With all the members of our group, we have biweekly meetings to keep in touch and be updated on everyone's work and to discuss possible strategies in facing this COVID-19 emergency.
Of course, our lab-work cannot be done at the moment and for this reason, we organized our work with our supervisors.

We are focused on writing manuscripts, analyzing data, writing scripts and running simulations, reading papers and we have virtual meetings to continue collaborations and to work together as much as possible. As students, we follow online lessons, online conferences and we plan future research activities to be ready when this emergency ends.

As a student chapter, we had to postpone our event for the Biophysics week because the Universities in which we wanted to host table information and lectures were already closed. For this reason, we are working remotely on preparing informative material, brochures, membership cards, and poster presentations, to have everything ready. When the emergency is over, we plan to organize these events again to share and spread our Chapter among all students, increasing our number of members and improving our network.

Luckily technology nowadays helps in keeping in touch with colleagues, friends, and family to make this period a little bit less heavy on everyone. We are staying positive and looking forward to coming back to our labs and our research activities.

We wish the best of luck to all the world and the scientific community.
