ROCKVILLE, MD – Today the Biophysical Journal is launching a new initiative, the Postdoctoral Reviewer Program. The program provides postdoctoral researchers in biophysics the opportunity to partner with Associate Editors and complete reviews that will be used in deciding whether articles will be accepted for publication.

Candidates for this program must be in a postdoctoral position during the 2023–2024 academic year and a member of BPS in good standing. Applications for the new program will be accepted through July 1 for a single-year term beginning in September 2023. “I am extremely excited to launch this new initiative for postdoctoral researchers. This new initiative will allow postdoctoral researchers to learn early in their careers how to properly and constructively review a paper,” said Vasanthi Jayaraman, Editor-in-Chief. “We believe that this experience will help postdocs to  write their own papers, to know more about the editorial process, and to be better positioned to become an editor themselves one day!”

The Biophysical Journal is the Biophysical Society's flagship journal which was first published in 1960 and has been published in partnership with Cell Press since 2009. The journal spans a wide range of subjects and disciplines that provide quantitative insight into fundamental problems at the molecular, cellular, systems, and whole-organism levels.
