ROCKVILLE, MD – The Biophysical Society is pleased to announce that Clifford Brangwynne, PhD, Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Princeton University, USA will receive the Michael and Kate Bárány Award. Brangwynne will be honored at the Society’s 64th Annual Meeting at the San Diego Convention Center in California, February 15-19, 2020.

Brangwynne is being recognized for his beautiful applications of the principles of soft matter physics towards elucidating the basis and consequences of intracellular phase separation, and using this information to understand and manipulate living biological cells and tissues. The award is intended to recognize an outstanding contribution to biophysics by a person who has not achieved the rank of full professor at the time of nomination.

The Michael and Kate Bárány Award for Young Investigators recognizes an outstanding contribution to biophysics by a person who has not achieved the rank of full professor at the time of nomination. In recognition of the endowment gift from Michael and Kate Bárány, the award was renamed in 1998.
