Jean Chin to Receive 2020 Rosalba Kampman Distinguished Service Award

ROCKVILLE, MD – The Biophysical Society is pleased to announce that Jean Chin, PhD, a recently retired Program Officer at the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA has been named the recipient of the Society’s 2020 Rosalba Kampman Distinguished Service Award. Chin will be honored at the Society’s 64th Annual Meeting at the San Diego Convention Center in California, USA February 15-19, 2020.

Chin was chosen to receive the award in recognition of her encouragement to numerous members of the Society, her advocacy of groundbreaking research, and for modeling what it means to be a scientist and a public servant. This award, established by the Biophysical Society and recently renamed in honor of former BPS Executive Officer Rosalba Kampman, recognizes service in the field of biophysics and contributions beyond achievements in research.

“Biophysical Society members not only engage in cutting edge scientific research, but also in advancing biophysics as a field and publicizing the value it brings to the world,” said BPS President Dave Piston, Washington University in St. Louis. “Jean dedicated her professional career to biophysics and public service through her work at NIH. It is an honor to be able to recognize her work and dedication and thank her for her years of service.”

The Rosalba Kampman Distinguished Service Award honors service in the field of biophysics and contributions beyond achievements in research. The award was renamed for Rosalba Kampman, former Executive Officer of the Biophysical Society, in 2019.
